Mixed-Age Groups
One of the hallmarks of the Montessori method is a community of children of mixed ages from the same plane of development. This setting fosters social, intellectual, and emotional growth as children learn from and with one another. Older children serve as role models and mentors, reinforcing their skills by teaching, while younger children benefit from observing and engaging with peers at different levels. This supports the holistic development of each child - individually, by nurturing independence and confidence, and socially, by encouraging empathy, cooperation and mutual respect within the group.
